The Kohl Foundation Teacher Fellowship/Student Scholarship Program was established in 1990 by U.S. Senator Herb Kohl. The purpose of the scholarship program is to honor students who have demonstrated academic potential, outstanding leadership, citizenship, community service, honesty and integrity, or other special talents and to help them pursue post secondary studies. The fellowships reward teachers who have demonstrated superior ability to inspire a love of learning in their students, have motivated others, have provided outstanding service within and outside the classroom, or have helped improve the morale and status of their profession. Cooperative Educational Service Agencies work with the Department of Public Instruction in carrying out the Foundation program.
