Behavior Strategist Role and Function

Educational Support
Provide help with academics for students who are not successful in their current educational setting or program. This contact usually results in one or more of the following:

  • Assistance with behavior planning and programming
  • Recommendations for classroom behavior management
  • Recommendations for social skills enhancement
  • IEP recommendations
  • Assist school personnel, teachers, and paraeducators with tools to help manage a student’s behavior
  • In-school support to assist educational staff in the classroom or working with students individually
  • After school support at school or community setting
  • Neutral site support with school personnel present for transition into school setting
  • Social Skills Acquisition in school or community
  • Home support with school work/social skills/behavior plans
  • Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA)
  • Assist with students transitioning from CCIs, hospitalizations, or out-of-home placements

Research & Information

Assist in providing information about different diagnoses and disabilities as well as support options in the community. Provide referral resources if needed. Help provide information on a specific mental/emotional/behavioral disability to help educate school staff so they can better and more effectively meet the child’s needs .

Crisis Intervention

Assist in individual crisis planning at any level or stage. Participate in the practice of plan to extent needed.
