Substitute Teacher Training

CESA #9 developed the Substitute Teacher Training in response to a Legislative Bill which permits the temporary teacher certification of individuals with Bachelor Degrees in areas other than education.  The training is designed to prepare prospective substitute teachers with basic information about the substitute's role.  Participants who complete the training and practice will receive a certificate of completion, and then can apply to the Department of Public Instruction for a Teacher Certificate.  By the end of the program, participants will be able to:

*Identify the role and responsibilities of a substitute teacher
*Conduct a planned lesson
*Develop and conduct an improptu lesson
*Identify resources regarding school policies and procedures
*Identify classroom organization, management and behavior strategies
*Write a summary of a substitute's day

Audience:  Participants with a Bachelor's Degree in areas other than education

Instructor: To be determined

Dates: To be determined

District recommendation is required prior to registration.  Click here to download the training form.  Bring this training form to the participating school district for their signature, and send that form to Jean Hill @ CESA #9.
