Data Dig: Getting Ready for the New Accountability System and School Report Cards

EVENT # 197-12

This interactive workshop is designed specifically for superintendents, principals and district data personnel to build collective leadership around the new accountability system.  Participants will use school level data sources which factor in to the accountability index score on new school report card.   This workshop will prepare you to better inform teaching staff, parents, and communities about the new system for accountability.  Each participant will receive a Data Dig workbook that explains each score element and how to interpret what gets factored in to the overall accountability index.

Please bring:
• Laptop with wireless access to the internet, power strips/extension cord
• All data listed in the chart below for each participant. (Click here for details on accessing required data)

Schools must bring the following data as we explore the new school report card:

Resource: TURNLEAF (from the 2011 Data)

  • WKCE School Record Sheet from one grade level that includes scores for Math and Reading for each student.
  • WKCE Proficiency summary- reading and math with all sub groups for the same grade level.
  • For an exercise on On-track readiness, you will need to print off the school record sheet for 3rd grade reading, to show each individual student score and 8th grade math, to show each student’s individual score.
  • You will need to print several WKCE Scale Score Summary sheets.
  • You will need to follow the same group of students as they move through grade levels.
  • If you use your current 8th grade class, you should print off the 2011, 8th grade, the 2010 7th grade, 2009 6th grade, etc., so you end up with 6 different sheets for the same kids.

Resource: From the DPI LDS site, SAFE site GOALS dropdown, Student Growth Percentile Sheets

  • GOALS- Student Level Reading 2010-11 (one sheet per every student Grade 3)
  • GOALS- Student Level Mathematics 2010-11 (one sheet per every student Grade 8)
  • These are the two last reports on the GOALS dropdown menu.

Resource: From the DPI LDS site, SAFE site, GOALS drop down

  • Numerous 1-page bubble graph reports, named like the following for math and reading:
    • 1. GOALS-School Level-Mathematics 2010-11 Gender, Grade, Race, etc.
    • 2. GOALS-School Level-Reading 2010-11 Gender, Race, Grade, etc.
  • Should be (6) for math and (6) for reading for each of your Elementary and middle schools.

Need help downloading your reports from SAFE?  Click here to access the DPI Four-Step Guide.

Resource: WINNS
