CESA #9 Crisis Management Team

Upon determining the need to contact the CESA #9 Crisis Management Team, a district administrator or designee should contact Karen Wendorf-Heldt, CESA #9 Administrator (715) 453-2141 x 257 or Lynn Verage, Team Leader (715) 453-2141 x 228.  

Procedure to Access the CESA #9 Management Team

1. Each district shall follow their local district’s Response Plan.
2. Upon determination of need, the district office and/or designee will call CESA #9 Management Team members as requested by the School-based Response Team.

The following individuals are available to schools in crisis:

In the event of a crisis, each school district will be encouraged to organize their local School-based Response Team which will:

• Assess the situation,
• Establish a plan of action which will include a determination of the number of professionals needed from the CESA #9 Response Team, and
• Recommend the most beneficial use of their services.

It is expected that in most cases, school personnel would be in a position to handle and contain most crises that occur. However, circumstances may develop wherein students, faculty and parents need support services that exceed the capabilities of staff regularly assigned to serve a particular site. It is during such circumstances that the School-based Response Team would recommend the use of the CESA #9 Crisis Management Team. 

The CESA #9 Managment Teams' goal is to supplement, not supplant, the work of the School-based Response Team.

• Training Scenarios: Crisis scenarios for use in training of school district staff.
• Workshops and Training: Workshops and training offered through CESA#9 on crisis response planning and safe schools planning.
• Web and other CESA #9 Resources: Web sites associated with crisis response planning and safe schools referenced as well as materials available for checkout through the CESA#9 Instructional Materials Center.
